Celebration Dinner for Y Garthen

16/10/2026

For 45 years, Papur Bro Dyffryn Teifi "Y Garthen" has been sharing news, stories and successes of our communities. Since the first issue was published in March 1981, thousands of local people have contributed articles, photos and information, helping to create a valuable record of life in the Teifi Valley.

To celebrate this special milestone we will be holding a dinner with special guest, Fflur Dafydd on Friday Night, 16 October 2026 at the Porth Hotel, Llandysul 7pm. Welcome everyone!

The evening will be held through the medium of Welsh.

Details on how to book a place will be published very soon.

What is a Papur Bro?
A papur bro ("community newspaper") is a hyper-local Welsh-language newspaper produced by volunteers and usually published monthly. Found in communities across Wales, and a couple in England (there are over 50), papurau bro cover local news, community events, school and society activities, local history, sport, photographs, recipes and puzzles. They provide a unique record of local life and play an important role in supporting the Welsh language and strengthening community connections.

Over the decades, Y Garthen has recorded the history, celebrations, news and stories of the people of the Teifi Valley. It has been a voice for the area, and that continues to this day, 45 years later. The paper serves communities from Newcastle Emlyn to Llandysul and the surrounding Teifi Valley.
