Llandysul and Pont-Tyweli Walkers are Welcome published a booklet called "Llandysul Trails", a series of walks around Llandysul and Pont-Tyweli. The booklet is now out of print but you can download and print each walk on this page.
The Ordnance Survey map for the area of the walks is Explorer 185. The maps are for illustration purposes only and should be used in conjunction with the appropriate map and compass.
Grade of walks
A – Strenuous: Ability to walk on rough terrain for up to 6 hours with a light rucksack.
B – Moderate: Ability to walk on rough terrain for up to 4 hours with a light rucksack.
C – Easy: Ability to walk on rough terrain for up to 2 hours with a light rucksack.

Llandysul Town Historic Walk
The walk circles the town with a short uphill section at the start. The Victorian and Edwardian architecture and the numerous small shops make it an ideal short stroll through the town’s history. It also provides some fine views across the surrounding countryside. Dogs should be kept on a lead.
Distance: 1.1km (1.8miles). About 1 hour. Grade: C
Coed y Foel Woodland and Countryside Walk
Within a short space of time walkers are transported from the bustling town of Llandysul into open farmland and the peace and tranquillity of Coed y Foel woodland. The views from the hilltops are stunning and the walk finishes alongside the beautiful Teifi river. The tracks are sometimes rough and there are a few uphill sections. Walking boots and gaiters are recommended after heavy rain. There are stiles, but look for updates as gates are replacing them. Dogs should be kept on a lead on the farmland sections.
Distance: 9km (5.6miles) About 3 hours. Grade: B
Teifi Loop Walk
This ‘all season’, straightforward and pretty walk, takes you from the heart of Llandysul, along country lanes, through ancient woodland and finally along the banks of the Teifi river. The walk is mostly on country lanes, but there is a substantial amount of uphill, which is reflected in the walk’s grading. The uphill does however reward the walker with delightful views over the Clettwr valley. Dogs should be kept on a lead. Footwear suitable for country lanes as the river bank is usually well drained.
Distance: 5.63km (3.5miles). About 2.5 hours. Grade B.
North Clettwr Valley Walk
This short circular walk takes you from St David’s Church at Capel Dewi, northwards through mixed woodland that runs alongside the Afon Clettwr and back to Capel Dewi. It is a pleasant, quiet walk, with a variety of scenery and lots of wildlife. Walking boots and gaiters are recommended after heavy rain. Dogs should be kept on a lead.
Distance: 3.2km (2 miles). About 1 hour. Grade C.
South Clettwr Valley Walk
This pretty walk takes you from St David’s Church at Capel Dewi, southwards along the Clettwr valley and provides some delightful views of the surrounding landscape. Walking boots and gaiters are recommended after heavy rainfall. Dogs should be kept on a lead through farmland.
Distance: 4.8km (3 miles). About 2 hours. Grade C.
Coed y Foel Woods to Capel Dewi Circular Walk
This circular walk takes you through the peace and tranquillity of Coed y Foel woods, onto open farmland, past the Afon Clettwr, through the small sleepy village of Capel Dewi and along country lanes. The walk is in a beautiful tranquil setting with a pleasant variety of scenery and wonderful views from its highest points. Dogs should be kept on a lead on farmland sections.
Distance: 13.1km (8 miles). About 4.5 hours. Grade A/ B.
Llandysul/Pont-Tyweli North Walk
This, all season, walk takes you through parkland, country lanes, across open farmland with fine views across Llandysul, the Clettwr valley and the Carmarthenshire hills. There are a few steeply uphill sections and walking boots and gaiters are recommended after rain. Dogs should be kept on a lead.
Distance: 6.5km (4 miles). About 2.5-3 hours. Grade C.
Llandysul/Pont-Tyweli South Walk
The walk follows the disused railway alongside the Afon Tyweli, through a fairytale woodland, along country lanes and across open farmland with fine views across the valley to the Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire hills. There are a few steeply uphill sections and walking boots and gaiters are recommended after heavy rain. Dogs should be kept on a lead.
