January 17th: THE LAST DAYS OF DOLWYN
Written by Emlyn Williams. A Welsh valley is to be flooded to make a reservoir to serve Liverpool, displacing a whole community. An early role for Richard Burton in 1949. Based on the drowning of the village of Llanwyddyn to form Lake Vyrnwy in 1888. Plus supporting programme.
February 21st: IL POSTINO
A film for St Valentine’s day. Academy Award winning story of Mario, a fisherman in a tiny Italian village who’s madly in love with a beautiful woman in the local café but he’s too shy to tell her how he feels. However, when a world famous Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda is exiled to a little island nearby, Mario gets a job as his postman and with Neruda’s help he finds the right words to win her heart. Plus supporting programme.
March 20th: TEMPLE GRANDIN
An inspiring factual story of a young woman’s struggle with autism and her emergence as a person with an innate sensitivity and unique understanding of animal behaviour. Her methods have revolutionised the cattle industry in the USA. Plus support programme.
